IOI video on Zandvlei
IOI-SA uses Zandvlei Estuary as a case study in Estuary Management as part of the IOI-SA Course in Ocean Governance for Africa. The video focuses on the history of the Vlei, challenges for the estuary as well as management measures and ideas for the way forward.

Kos Gangsters – Best Documentary Award
In December 2020, Lara Taylor won Best Documentary Award at the Mobile Moviemakers Cape Town Film Festival for her mobile video “Kos Gangsters”. The video was filmed at the Ocean View Farm and focuses on two of the female farmers. Coming from the harsh environment of Ocean View, their stories highlight the strength and courage that these women have.
Down to Earth Screenings at the Labia
During March and April 2019, Mycelium Media Colab co-hosted a number of screenings of the documentary film, Down to Earth at the independent Labia Cinema in Cape Town. Down to Earth is a 90-minute film about a British couple with three young children who spent five years journeying across six continents, living with indigenous tribes and “earth keepers” on a quest to learn their ways and gain new perspective.
Water Stories
WaterStories.co.za is a storytelling web portal that explores freshwater and ocean contamination around Cape Town. The website aims to support citizen choices for a clean environment; equip communities to recognise that any injury to water is an injury to all; that working for clean water is working for health for all.
Kia Johnson – new 50/50 presenter
SABC2’s long running environmental programme 50/50 which aired it’s new season on the 8th June 2020 has our very own Kia Johnson of Mycelium Media as the new host.
Cape Mental Health Annual Report
The effects of Covid on mental health globally set the theme for this annual report. The design and layout presented information for stakeholders in a visually rich way, including images and infographics to tell the CMH story.
