Urban Food Futures – Foodweb.city

Mycelium worked as the multimedia and communication collaborator with Urban Food Futures over a 12 month period with our team working as writers, designers, website implementors, illustrators, communications strategists, editors, filmmakers, media trainers and more. The programme aims to contribute to a transformation of existing urban food systems and provide concrete solutions for more liveable futures in urban and peri-urban habitats. Foodweb is an online platform designed to present monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) for the urban food systems research. The purpose is for collaboration, analysis, implementation, advocacy and activism across the project’s primary research sites: Nairobi, Kenya; Cape Town, South Africa and Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. This platform functions as the data collection ‘hub’ and a holding space for all the learnings and information gathered through this programme.

The interactive site includes a library of research papers and articles with an advanced search and filtration feature, templates for partners to add their own posts with ease, and a dashboard with animated data visualisation. The branding, illustration, videos and much of the writing included on the website were created by Mycelium. Mycelium also offered training amongst the partners for story telling and photography.
