Cape Town Stink – 50/50 story

12 minute feature story produced for the SABC environmental show 50/50, giving an overview of ocean pollution around Cape Town.

Cape Town’s waters are battling with every kind of pollution. Untreated or barely-treated sewage being discharged into Cape Town’s oceans has overloaded their capacity to process it. The lack of sanitation infrastructure in informal settlements next door to Milnerton, combined with the already struggling Potsdam Waste Water Treatment plant, creates a perfect storm of contamination & associated algal blooms in the Diep River and Milnerton Lagoon.
